Fratelli Pinna
Ittiri, in the province of Sassari, is known as the "city of oil". This an ancient vocation that still sees the olive harvest today as the secondary occupation of a large number of families. Not surprisingly, Ittiri is home to some of the most admired producers of our country, including Fratelli Pinna, a company that took its first steps in the 1940s, following the acquisition of some olive groves near Sassari.
Antonella Pinna, after inheriting the business from her father, and assisted by her brothers Gavino and Leonardo, still works driven by passion and in full respect of nature and consumers. In addition to high quality extra virgin olive oil, Società Agricola F.lli Pinna produces various foods in oil, such as tuna belly, olives and artichokes, preserves and olives in brine, supplying not only the best Italian restaurants, but also exporting them.
In order to guarantee an extra-virgin oil with excellent organoleptic characteristics, the olives are processed in the hours immediately following the harvest.
Some of the most valuable products include, the "Antichi Uliveti del Prato" oil and the Bosana pitted oil. The first one succeeded in winning several awards, such as the "Three Olives" awarded by Slow Food. The oil from pitted olives, on the other hand, is obtained from olives that have been crushed after being pitted, to offer an extremely elegant product to the public.
Product traceability is guaranteed for both these varieties.
Attention is not only paid to the final products, but also to the processing waste. In this area, the choice of the Pinna brothers was to reuse waste; for instances, the stones from processing the pitted olive oil, are used as fuel. In addition, the use of solar panels allows the company to produce energy.
