Mate

The Mate company is a small and young company located in the magnificent Istrian territory near the sea, on the Adriatic coast, between the inlet of Daila and Punta Salvore, in Croatia. Founded by Mate Vekić, who, at the age of 75, decided to make a great gesture by bringing to light a category of superior and 100% organic extra virgin olive oils.

For years the territory had been abandoned and devoid of cultivation, both for the difficult climatic conditions and for the dramatic historical events. Mate, driven by a great fortitude and a great passion for agriculture, decided to plant about 25,000 olive trees with different varieties of cultivars such as: Leccino and Pendolino due to a strong link with the Tuscan territory and subsequently to ancient native varieties such as: Busa, Bianchera and Carbonazza, thus creating extraordinary extra virgin olive oils.

A category of extra virgin olive oil born respecting the environment and nature, but also thanks to the attention and care of the entire production process. Here, olives are harvested by hand and processed through latest-generation mechanical processes, to produce an oil characterized by its own identity, built through 4 key elements of the territory such as the sun, the sea, the land and the wind.

The mill is located in a very particular corner yet privileged stretch of land, as it allows, during the oil accumulation phase in the olives, the elaboration of noble elements, such as oleic acid that give the product that added value not achievable in other territories.
