Description

Giorgio Franci, appointed a Hero of Made in Italy by Gambero Rosso, is an internationally recognized protagonist of the Italian food culture. This Maremman oil mill is father to many excellent oils, including Franci Villa Magra Grand Cru extra virgin olive oil. The symbol of the farm, this elegant and powerful oil is the best production of the Villa Magra olive grove, a centuries-old family olive grove destroyed by frost in 1985 and replanted in 1987. An elegant product from 100% monocultivar Frantoio, intensely fruity, with a deep green color and a penetrating and powerful herbaceous scent for one of the most extraordinary Italian extra virgin oils.

Tasting Notes

Villa Magra Grand Cru oil has an intense green color. Fresh, herbaceous, penetrating and powerful with dominant notes of artichoke, thistle and unripe almond, enhanced by floral and black cherry nuances that give life to a bouquet of extreme complexity. The taste is powerful and the bitterness and pungency are in excellent harmony, with a great complexity of vegetable hints and a long persistence of soft aromatic notes.

Matching

Excellent raw to contrast the sweetness of potatoes, beans, chickpeas and vegetable soups in general; on red meat or very tasty fish; in combination with fresh cheeses such as raveggiolo or mozzarella which enhance the fresh-vegetable component of the oil, excellent on ricotta and spinach tortelli, rice or pasta with Parmesan flakes and grilled porcini mushrooms.

For dressing cold and hot dishes with a medium structure. For brief cooking periods at a high temperature.
