What are cookies?

As clarified by the Privacy Guarantor in the FAQ of December 2012, available at www.garanteprivacy.it, cookies are "small text files" - formed by letters and numbers - "that the websites visited by the user send to their terminal (usually the browser), where they are stored and then retransmitted to the same websites the next time the same user visits them". Cookies streamline web traffic analysis or indicate when a specific website or part of it is visited, to distinguish between visitors in order to provide personalized content, and help administrators to improve the website and the user experience.

Some operations could not be carried out without the use of cookies; therefore, in some cases, they technically necessary. In other cases, the website uses cookies to help the user navigate more easily, or to allow using specifically requested services.
