Fattoria La Maliosa

Fattoria La Maliosa
Our history

Fattoria La Maliosa, located in the hills of Saturnia in the province of Grosseto, owes its name to the verb 'Ammaliare' (to bewitch), chosen to celebrate the extraordinary charm of the territory surrounding the farm. The founder of Fattoria La Maliosa is Antonella Manuli, an entrepreneur who, after years of working in business economics, came across the hilly Maremma region and fell in love with it. Hence the decision to found a company that would enhance the uncontaminated territory through its products. After purchasing some land and meeting with agronomist and researcher Lorenzo Corino, Fattoria La Maliosa developed and consolidated innovative and sustainable agronomic techniques that are part of the founding principle of Fattoria La Maliosa, i.e. agriculture in harmony with the landscape, the land and its balances without disrupting them, but bringing value to them. The choice of olive groves was animated by these principles, an attempt was made to recover historical original varieties in the area such as Leccino, Frantoio, Moraiolo, Pendolino and Leccio del Corno; of these, about 180 trees are over 100 years old, while about 3800 olive trees of the same variety have been added and have been in production since 2015. All the land is cultivated according to the organic and biodynamic method, which is based on the valorisation of the organic substance already present and the safeguarding of water availability. In particular, the farm system characterised by a large forested area and the presence of photovoltaic systems allow the absorption of 100 times more carbon dioxide than is produced.
