Our history

The Roi family company has been active since 1900, when their great-grandfather, Giuseppe "Pepin U Roi", built the first oil mill with local stones and wood. 

Today, Paolo takes care of the company, and represents the Roi family's fifth generation. For over 100 years, the Roi family has been cultivating and processing Taggiasca olives, one of the most delicate and precious cultivars in the world. 

Olio Roi's 11,000 olive trees are located in a peculiar territory, the Valle Argentina, in the Western Ligurian Riviera, which enjoy a special microclimate affected by sea and mountain winds. The olive trees are in a strategic position, on steep slopes that promote great sun exposure and help excess rainwater to drain, preventing stagnation. 

Today, the Roi family works between tradition and innovation, from the old, historical and poetic oil mill - which marked the Roi family's old business - to the new technological one, which allows varying the oil pressing and extraction based on the Taggiasca olives ripeness, in order to obtain the best organoleptic properties and the highest quality extra virgin olive oil.
