In the land of Arneo, between the towns of Nardo’ and Copertino, in the rural heart of Salento, La Cornula “Foglia d’Oro” extra virgin olive oil is born. The name refers to the lands of origin of the oil mill, where La Cornula is not just a simple denomination, but a symbol of the land, where the term comes from the Lecce dialect and indicates the horn-shaped fruit of the carob tree, which abounds in the Salento area. A blend with an elegant bitter aftertaste, run through by brushstrokes of spiciness that strikes us for its great versatility in the kitchen. This oil fascinates us because it makes us relive La Cornula through the taste, smells and colors of these varieties of olive trees, witnesses of Puglia’s identity.
Tasting Notes
La Cornula Foglia d’Oro extra virgin olive oil is limpid, with a beautiful intense golden yellow color and greenish reflections. It has a medium fruity scent of olives at the right degree of maturity, with hints of pendulo tomato an mown grass. On the palate: a pleasant entry of light bitterness and a progressive spiciness of just the right persistence, with a return to the palate of scents reminiscent of yellow tomato and wild chicory.
