Agrestis

Agrestis’ story began in 2003 in Buccheri, when Giuseppe Paparone and Lorenzo Nicotra - two friends who lived in the area - decided to do something to protect their land and especially the centuries-old olive trees in the nearby abandoned countryside. 

The area is that of the Syracuse hinterland at about 820 metres above sea level, an area of arid hills and wonderful forests where the olive tree has been present since ancient times. 

Over the years, from a family and domestic production they managed to make a real business out of it, thanks also to their sons Pietro and Salvatore who joined the project contributing their passion and knowledge, acquiring a further 8 hectares of olive groves managed partly organically.

Today, Agrestis is a fully recognised reality in the sector, also thanks to the numerous awards received for the quality of their extra virgin olive oil produced in very large part with the Tonda Iblea cultivar that represents an excellence of the territory.

There are about 20,000 olive trees, which require continuous work and careful attention at all stages of processing, factors that contribute to obtaining products of absolute excellence to be tried at least once.
