Volpaia

Castello di Volpaia is a small medieval village built by the 'Della Volpaia' family in 1172 on the hills north of the town of Radda, in the heart of the Chianti Classico wine region. The historical vicissitudes of the families that have owned it, up to the present day, have always been linked to the development of Chianti wine-growing, as the wine cellars and the oil mill, albeit of the latest generation, are still housed in the castle's basement.

Since 1967, the property has been owned by the Stianti Mascheroni family in which Giovannella and her husband Carlo decided to invest in modernising the cellars with the aim of maintaining the quality production that had glorified them for years, but at the same time retaining the typical 11th-century external structure.

A history that for years has been rooted in the traditions of the area and which today owns no less than 46 hectares of vineyards located 400 metres above sea level, all converted to organic farming. It also owns no less than 16 different plots where a selection of harmonious wines with an unmistakable character such as Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Trebbiano, Malvasia del Chianti, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc are cultivated.

The harvesting method in the vineyard is carried out exclusively using organic methods that respect the raw material, while in the cellar the vinification process is traditional, but carried out with the aid of modern technologies that enhance all the organoleptic characteristics of the wine.
